Pop star wins in all her nominated categories

Britney Spears, who was widely considered the darling of the MTV Video Music Awards until her botched 'comeback' performance at last year's ceremony, has taken home awards in all categories in which she was nominated.

The pop star didn't perform at tonight's Los Angeles ceremony, but kicked off the event with a brief skit and an onstage appearance that earned her a standing ovation from the crowd.

Spears, looking trim in a silver mini-dress with a plunging neckline, earned three honours tonight (September 7) for her 'Piece Of Me' video: Best Female Video, Best Pop Video and Video Of The Year.

When accepting the awards, the singer repeatedly thanked God and her sons for inspiring her, as well as her fans.

Give Brit a break. Her popularity is not her fault. If you despise Ms. Spears, blame the douche bags who signed her to a record contract and the papps who follow her and her family around.
